Mental Health - Lemon

Mental Health is a series that tackles this very important topic through symbolic images. In it, I talk about personality distortions, self esteem problems and mental disorders with a colorful and playful visual language. It is a way to approach a difficult subject in a different way where the viewer can easily feel related with these fruits and vegetables.

This image symbolizes different possible situations. The mirror reflects an empty version of the lemon, we can just see the peel through it. It can represent the feeling of emptiness we sometimes have, but it can also represent some mental health problems that involve the “emptiness” of someone’s feelings. In a different direction, it can also stand for a superficial understanding of one self. In any case, the poor lemon is not appreciating how yellow and healthy and delicious it looks.
